Councillors have endorsed the 2016/17 Draft Budget at the Ordinary Meeting of Council on Monday night, capping rates at 2.5% increase.
Council is planning $60,000 worth of footpath repairs for the township plus an amount of $50,000 to upgrade the Diggers Rest Recreational Reserve Master Plan.
In the past five years, Council has spent approximately $1m on Capital Projects within the township. It is proposed in Councils current Capital Works Program to spend $47m over the next 10 years.
Residents under the local government act 1989 can still make a submission to the budget. Written submissions close on Tuesday May 31, 2016 at 5:00pm and should be addressed to the Chief Executive and emailed to submissions@melton.vic.gov.au or posted to P.O. Box 21 Melton 3337.
