Forums to help Sunbury decide

sunbury-cccYesterday, was the first of four scheduled public forums to provide the Sunbury out of Hume Community Consultative Committee (Sunbury CCC) with community feedback regarding the development of a new municipality for Sunbury.

The forum was facilitated by the committee chairperson, Amanda Millar MP (Member for Northern Victoria).

Nine appointed voluntary members make up the Sunbury CCC. Five members including two members from the local government advisory panel and the Minister for Local Government Tim Bull MP we in attendance.

Participants were given an opportunity to discuss and share ideas regarding the proposed boundaries for a new municipality. According to Amanda Millar, “others have raised the point of following similar boundaries” to those created as part of the new state seat of Sunbury, which includes the township of Diggers Rest and the new Bloomdale estate.

Through the consultation process, the committee will make recommendations on communities of interest, proposed boundaries, equitable distribution and division of assets and liabilities and transitional requirements.

The committee has until April 30, 2014 to provide its report to the local government Sunbury out of Hume review panel.
