France vs Indonesia at Diggers Rest

The AFL International Cup is held every 3 years and consists of teams representing countries from around the world coming to Australia to play Aussie Rules Football.  The Grand Final is played at the MCG on 23rd August as a curtain raiser to the Hawthorn V Geelong game.

The 2014 men’s draw will see teams from 18 different countries competing against each other to play off the for the AFL International Cup.  The AFL has introduced a Community Round this year giving local Footy Clubs the opportunity to host one of these games.  Of only 9 community Football Clubs in all of Victoria selected to host an International game, Diggers Rest Football Netball Club is thrilled to have been successful and will host the match between France and Indonesia at our home ground on Saturday 16th August.

This is fantastic opportunity for our Club and will put the township of Diggers Rest on the map, so we’d like to put it out there for everyone in our community to know about it and be able to come along on the day and share in what is an historical event for all of us.

It will also be the last Home and Away game day of the 2014 Season as our Footballers and Netballers take on local Club Rupertswood leading into our place in the RDFNL Finals, so will be a great day out at the local Footy!
