Sunbury – Melton Bus Review

We have been made aware that the Department of Transport intend to make significant changes to the metropolitan bus service on route 483.  The service currently operates from Sunbury to Moonee Ponds Junction via Diggers Rest.

The proposed new truncated service will operate between Sunbury and Diggers Rest only.

Changes to this route will cause considerable disadvantage to those that currently rely on a means of transportation to employment destinations along the Calder Freeway, in particular the BP, McDonalds and KFC road side centres.

It would raise huge concern to residents living in Sunbury, Diggers Rest, Taylors Lakes, Taylors Hill in the event that public transport were to no longer service that employment node.

This proposal is most definately a disadvantage to the community of Diggers Rest.

From investigations to date, the formal community consultation phase for the Bus Review has finished and the Department of Transport will not take any further community comments or submissions.

However, as the Diggers Rest Residents Association (DRRA) was part of the formal community consultation phase, and according to the Department of Transport, we might be in a position to submit additional feedback to these concerns via the DRRA.

Meanwhile, the Bus Australia website forum offers some interesting dialogue on the topic.
