Birds of a feather, Corella together

diggers-rest-corellas

In recent years Diggers Rest has become a popular destination for Corella’s during the roosting season. This year is no different. Further to last year’s Corella roosting season, Melton City Council has established a Corella working group to investigate future Corella management within the City.

Mixed emotions exist amongst the locals in regard to the impact of Corella roosting behavior in Diggers Rest. This is consistent with other communities which have experienced Corella roosting over prolonged periods, such as South Australia and the Wimmera district.

It is understood that the Melton City Council intends to develop and undertake a community awareness campaign during the 2015/16 roosting season, which will include a community engagement framework.
