Watts ward Councillor Lara Carli presented a question without notice at this months ordinary meeting of council. Cr Carli sought current status on the 3 month deferral on the application to demolish the building. Planning and Environment manager for the City of Melton Bob Baggio explained that time for the hotel owners had lapsed and the item was due to return to council next month.
The building is considered to be of local historical significance and subject to a heritage overlay. It’s expected that Councillors will vote against any demolition in order to retain the historical value of the property.
