On the evening of September 13, 1999 a community meeting at the Burras Sporting Club was held to determine interest in establishing a residents association for Diggers Rest.

At that time, local residents Peter Clarke and Judy Henderson put forward suggestions in support of an association. The meeting was well attended with in excess of 75 residents which included some of our younger community members.

The Diggers Rest Lions Club provided a letter in support of the formation of an association, which was tabled at the meeting. (click here)

Other guests included, Bernie O’Farrell (Sunbury Residents Association – President), Don Nardella, John McGeary and Sgt Graham Scott from Melton Police.

Following the meeting formalities and a general questions and answers session, local resident John Crook moved that a Diggers Rest Residents Association be formed.

A committee was derived from the meeting which consisted of Peter Clarke accepting the role of President, John Crook Vice President, Judy Henderson Secretary, Jennifer Holcroft Treasurer and ordinary members Dustan Mackay, Billy Martin, Mike Kilgraff, Garry Small and Julieanne Mackay.

The Diggers Rest Association Inc, still meets each month at the Old School House, Calder Highway Diggers Rest.
