A Digger at Rest

What Tombstone, Where?

During the excavations of the “Punjel Estate” in the early 1990’s, the remains of a digger from the gold rush days were found.

J.A Sanger was apparently sleeping under a stationary horse drawn carriage, he was crushed to death when a wheel gave way.

The tombstone (pictured above) was erected in his memory and is located in “Houdini Park” situated at the entrance of the Diggers Rest township.
