Today the Melton City Council flag flies at half-mast in memory of local resident Charles (Charlie) Bruce Watson. Charlie passed away on May 17, 2022 at the age of 85. He was a well know identity having been a local lad all his life attending the Diggers Rest Primary School and growing up on the family farm known as ‘Aitken Brae’.
In his youth, he was a keen sportsperson who loved playing cricket and football, patronising the Diggers Rest Cricket Club and the Sunbury Football Club. His contribution to the development of Diggers Rest, including his time with the Melton Council and his passion for his community has left a lasting legacy for us all.
