Brigade welcomes grant funding

State Member for Sunbury, Josh Bull announced tonight that the Diggers Rest Fire Brigade will receive $182,800.00 through the 2018-19 Volunteer Emergency Services Equipment Program (VESEP).

This funding will help to purchase a brand new Light Tanker, which has been identified as high priority for our community.

The Brigade has been active in their fundraising efforts, and to date they have raised in the vicinity of $30,000. However, this falls well short of the required target of $210,000.

Unfortunately, being a small community, Diggers Rest has limited opportunities for groups like the volunteer fire brigade to raise funds. Therefore, the support of the Andrews Labor Government is a welcomed boost for our local community.

According to Josh Bull, “Our emergency services volunteers are often the first line of defence during fires, floods, storms and water emergencies. We thank them and value the hard yards they put in to keep their communities safe.”
