The final installment for the 2019/2020 Melton City Council rates are due for payment on May 31, 2020.
Given the financial hardships caused by the current global health crisis, it’s reported that many households and businesses are struggling to make ends meet.
It’s anticipated that Council will consider some respite for rate payers within the municapality, especially for those who are most impacted by the current economic climate.
Advocacy group, Ratepayers Victoria have urged all Victorian Councils to provide a freeze on any proposed rate increases.
Council has already implemented a series of measures to help ease financial pressures for residents, businesses and organisations during the pandemic.
