Improve our park, say residents.

Diggers Rest residents are seeking improvements to the St Genevieve central park as part of Councils budgetary planning for 2023-24.

In a Facebook post, local resident John Verdon has raised the idea of re-energising the park to include an area for community events, like food truck vendors.

Residents seem united regarding the inferior level of amenity at the park, providing positive feedback in support of improvements.

One resident has commented to say that “Our current park is so drab. No bright colours, too high for little kids and quite frankly, very boring”.

It’s understood that the original sub-division included a BBQ area at the park, which was never delivered.

Other improvements suggested as part of the submission include, access to drinking water, basketball area or better playground equipment.

Melton City Council is inviting organisations and residents to put forward their ideas and projects to help prepare the 2023/24 budget.

Budget submissions can be made online from 21 November until 16 December at: https://www.melton.vic.gov.au/budgetideas
