At the June 20, 2022 Meeting of Council, Councillors moved to continue to advocate for government investment in the provision of sound walls along freeway corridors within the City of Melton.
In August 2020, Melton City Council wrote to the Department of Transport seeking the installation of a noise wall on the Calder Freeway, adjacent to the Punjel Estate.
The correspondence acknowledged the noise affecting residents amenity due to the increased traffic volumes on the Calder Freeway, which a new sound wall would mitigate.
It’s understood that the Melton City Council “Fix Our Roads” campaign will be upgraded to include sound walls as part of its core advocacy.
