United stand against bullying

Bullying behaviours are not just physical and verbal or limited to the school yard.

These days the rising popularity of online interaction through social media has seen alarming growth in cyber-bullying.

It’s well documented that as the trend continues, more and more victims of cyber abuse are challenged mentally and often suffer long-term emotional scaring and even self-harm.

According to a new study, reported in the Herald Sun in May, “almost one in four Aussie kids have suffered cyber-bullying, giving Australia the second highest rate of online abuse against children in the world”.

Cyber-bullying, harassment and stalking has been identified at a local level which has raised concerns for some residents and has subsequently been reported to authorities.

Bully Zero, which was launched in 2013 has become Australia’s leading bullying prevention charity.

Through education, advocacy and support the team at Bully Zero provide a range of bully prevention evidence based education programs available to young people, parents, teachers and employees.

Diggers Rest Community Web Links (DiggersRest.com) is extremely pleased to announce our support partnership with Bully Zero.

Working together, it’s anticipated that we will help deliver an annual trivia night together with a mental health first-aid session for our growing community.
